How We Got Here: The Creation of the Friends of Epiphany School Foundation

The Friends of Epiphany School Foundation was born out of the opportunity to secure the future of Epiphany School

The Foundation has been established to raise money to replace and expand on the endowments currently providing tuition subsidies to all Epiphany students. Funds raised by the Foundation will continue to keep tuition costs down for all Epiphany students, and will support the school’s and staff’s needs. The Foundation will raise funds to support Epiphany School via donation campaigns, fundraising events, and by seeking larger endowments from our supporters.

In an effort to increase enrollment at Epiphany School and provide the opportunity for an Epiphany education to more students, funds from the school’s endowments are currently being used to pay a portion of every student’s tuition directly to the Diocese. BUT, at some point these fund will be depleted. The Foundation’s mission is to continue to provide these subsidies to all current and future students.

The Foundation is independent from the Diocese and is focused solely on the needs of Epiphany School.

The Friends of Epiphany School Foundation is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Our Newest Alumni: Epiphany School Celebrates the 2024 Sixth Grade Promotion

Epiphany School celebrated the Class of 2030’s graduation this spring, and along with the joy and excitement of graduation this class experienced something extra special. The class was the first in which every graduate received the Presidential Achievement Award, an award given for graduating with a overall GPA over a 90 for the year. We’re excited for the Class of 2030 to move on to their next chapters as they continue their journeys at Sayre, Athens, and Notre Dame.

Did you know Epiphany Alums are represented in our local Top Tens?

A Year of S.T.R.E.A.M.

(Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts, Math)

S.T.R.E.A.M. brings a student-centered, cross-curricular approach to education at Epiphany School. Students participate in a variety of S.T.R.E.A.M. challenges and programs tailored to their grade level and interests. Recently, fifth and sixth graders completed a year long interdisciplinary environmental education program called Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom. They raised Rainbow Trout as part of their study of watershed conservation. Afterward a student said, “release day was so much fun and I can’t wait to see what we raise next year!”

Alumni Spotlight

Brian Rich

an Epiphany alum is also a member of the Board for the Friends of Epiphany Foundation. He is employed by Booz Allen Hamilton as a Lead Engineer.

What are some of your favorite memories from your time at Epiphany?

I’ll never forget my First Communion with Sister Anne, mainly because I almost missed it. I had chicken pox in the weeks leading up to First Communion and missed most of our practices. I was terrified I wouldn’t know my reading but all it took was Sister Anne assuring me it’d be fine and that we’d get through it together to reassure me. When my kids get nervous about something at school they still hear the “First Communion chicken pox” story!

Why did you want to make sure that your children experience Epiphany School?

I have such great memories of my time at Epiphany that as soon as our family moved back to Sayre I knew I wanted our kids to experience the same thing. I know at Epiphany they are challenged and given opportunities everyday to be the best they can be academically, morally, and spiritually. It’s comforting to know our kids will come out of Epiphany as good students and even more importantly, good people. I also have to admit, it’s great to watch my kids go through first grade with Sister Anne, sixth grade with Ms. Ciotti, with Sister Kathleen leading the way, just like I did, and compare our experiences.

What is your role in The Friends of Epiphany Foundation?

Since joining the Foundation, I’ve been helping to grow the Foundation’s outreach efforts through our website and social media accounts. I was also lucky enough to be able to help bring back the Epiphany School Basketball Tournament last year, and am really looking forward to expanding the tournament in 2025!

Why did you want to bring back the Epiphany Basketball Tournament?

The Tournament is a great way to involve people in the Twin Tiers community in our school. The Tournament puts the spotlight on Epiphany for a few weeks, gets new folks into our building (and into one of the nicest gyms in the Valley), and helps to raise funds for our students. Throw in some high quality basketball and it really is a win-win for Epiphany and our local schools.
